As I sit on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh—this ancient city where sages have meditated for millennia—I feel the current of something much deeper than water. The Ganga is not merely a river. She is a living, sacred presence. A mother. A mirror. A reminder of impermanence and possibility. And for me, she has become a guide in this very personal and professional moment of integration.
I am here in Rishikesh immersing myself in yogic practice—not just asana or breathwork, but in the fullest sense of Yoga as union. Union of body and spirit, mind and heart, self and cosmos. This union is also the essence of my work as a researcher and professor at Shoolini University, where I explore the deep intersections between ego deconstruction, non-duality, and transformational methods like hypnotherapy and the Meta Pets system. Sitting by the Ganga, I see this work reflected in the river’s eternal message: Let go, flow, renew.
The Sacred Ganga: More Than a River
In Hindu cosmology, the Ganga descends from the heavens to purify the earth. Flowing from the locks of Shiva, she is not just water but divine grace incarnate. Her source is high in the Himalayas—Gaumukh, the mouth of the cow—and yet her journey flows through every layer of India’s psyche and soil, touching hearts, cities, forests, and fields. She is time and timelessness, destruction and rebirth, flow and stillness.
To bathe in her waters is not only to cleanse the body, but to wash the karmic residue from the soul. For millions, she is the path to liberation (moksha), carrying prayers, ashes, tears, and offerings. And yet, beyond religion, there is a universal truth in her flow: all life is a river. We are born, we journey, we dissolve. To live is to surrender to the flow—and to awaken is to do so consciously.
Yoga, Ego, and the River Within
As I deepen my practice here in Rishikesh, I see how the yogic path mirrors the Ganga’s own trajectory. The Upanishads speak of the Atman (soul) as a drop of water returning to the Brahman (ocean of consciousness). This is the path of inner yoga—moving from identification with form and ego to union with source and essence.
My research at Shoolini University is focused on this very shift: the journey from narrative identity and trauma-based conditioning toward integration, flourishing, and presence. In the Meta Pets system I’ve developed, this journey unfolds through symbolic play and deep inquiry—tools that allow the unconscious to speak, reflect, and ultimately rewire itself. And what better metaphor than the Ganga? A river that invites surrender, yet also demands responsibility. A sacred mirror that shows us both our beauty and our attachments.
Preparing for Jaipur: Artisans, Symbols, and Healing Flow
Soon, I will leave the banks of the Ganga and journey to Jaipur to begin work with the artisans—beautiful, skilled creators who hold ancestral wisdom in their hands and histories in their hearts. There, I will begin a 12-week journey using the Meta Pets method to foster emotional awareness, self-expression, and collective healing. We will sit in circle, draw cards, reflect, meditate, and create.
But I take the Ganga with me.
Her lessons—of release, rhythm, and rebirth—will guide our work. Just as the river transforms land as it flows, I believe transformation must be fluid, symbolic, and deeply rooted in our embodied experience. In Jaipur, the sacred thread continues—not as an abstraction, but as real ripples in real lives.
What the Ganga Teaches
The Ganga teaches us that sacredness is not somewhere else. It flows through us. It calls us to cleanse not only our bodies but our stories, our judgments, and our fears. It invites us to remember—that we are not separate from the source, the flow, or one another.
As I prepare to leave Rishikesh, I bow in gratitude. To the river, the sages, the practices. To the yoga that flows through life itself. And to the invitation, always present, to return home—again and again—to who we truly are beneath the layers.
Let us all become rivers. Let us flow from shadow to light, from contraction to love, from forgetting to remembrance.
Om Shanti. Jai Ganga.
