World Happiness Foundation — World Happiness Fest Global Theme
We stand at a threshold.
Not a “new year” in the usual sense—marked by calendars and resolutions—but a deeper turning of the page: an invitation to return to what is essential, to release what no longer serves, and to remember who we are when fear is not in the driver’s seat.
In 2025, we embraced regenerative happiness—the understanding that happiness is not a private luxury, nor a fleeting emotion, but a living ecosystem. A force that can replenish our relationships, our communities, our institutions, and our planet. We learned that true happiness does not consume; it restores. It does not isolate; it connects. It does not ignore pain; it transforms it into meaning.
Now, in 2026, we step into a new global theme: Rebirth and Freedom — a Year of Possibilities.
This is not a slogan. It is a call.
A call to awaken, to courage, to collective action—and to the kind of inner liberation that becomes contagious.
Because the most important question is not only “What do we want to build?”
It is: What must we become to build it?
Freedom is not an escape. It is a return.
We often confuse freedom with absence: absence of responsibilities, absence of limits, absence of discomfort.
But the freedom that changes lives—and societies—is not an escape from reality. It is a return to reality with an open heart. Freedom is the moment we stop abandoning ourselves.
Freedom is:
- The courage to feel what is real—without being ruled by it.
- The choice to heal—without waiting for perfect conditions.
- The decision to love—without guarantees.
- The commitment to truth—without cruelty.
- The willingness to begin again—without shame.
Freedom is not only political. It is emotional. Relational. Spiritual. Structural.
And rebirth is not only personal. It is systemic.
Rebirth begins the day we stop negotiating our dignity.
There is a quiet tragedy happening in many lives: people shrinking to fit into spaces that do not honor them. People silencing their voice to keep peace. People sacrificing their wellbeing to meet expectations. People normalizing stress, loneliness, and disconnection as “just how life is now.”
This year, we say: No more.
Rebirth begins when we stop asking for permission to be whole.
Rebirth is what happens when an individual, a community, or a civilization decides:
- “We will not build success on exhaustion.”
- “We will not call numbness ‘strength.’”
- “We will not treat nature as an object and expect to feel alive.”
- “We will not seek happiness while ignoring injustice.”
- “We will not chase progress that leaves people behind.”
Rebirth begins when we stop pretending the old way is working.
What makes you feel free?
I ask you this—not as a metaphor, but as a compass:
What makes you feel free?
Is it being able to breathe without anxiety?
Is it being accepted without performing?
Is it walking in nature and remembering you belong?
Is it speaking your truth and not collapsing afterward?
Is it being able to rest—without guilt?
Is it loving someone without fear?
Is it creating something and feeling life move through you?
Is it having enough—enough time, enough safety, enough support—to finally exhale?
Your answer matters, because it reveals what your soul already knows:
Freedom is not a concept. It is a lived experience.
And when we map what makes people feel free, we begin to see what our societies must protect and expand.
The 2026 Commitment: Freedom that regenerates life
This year, we commit to a freedom that is not only individual, but shared. Not only inspiring, but implementable. Not only emotional, but measurable in how people live, learn, work, and heal.
This is our manifesto—our declaration of what we stand for and what we will build together:
1) Freedom to be human
We reject the culture of constant performance.
We champion wellbeing as a human right: the right to feel, to pause, to grieve, to celebrate, to ask for help, and to be imperfect while growing.
2) Freedom from the tyranny of “not enough”
We challenge systems that feed scarcity of time, attention, belonging, and meaning.
We support pathways to economic dignity, mental health, and community care—so no one has to choose between survival and wellbeing.
3) Freedom to belong
We commit to cultures of inclusion where people don’t have to fragment themselves to be accepted.
Belonging is not charity; it is design.
4) Freedom to heal
Healing is not weakness. It is leadership.
We promote trauma-informed education, workplaces, and institutions that understand the nervous system, honor mental health, and cultivate resilience with compassion.
5) Freedom to learn and unlearn
We elevate education that develops wisdom, emotional intelligence, and consciousness—not only information.
We encourage learning that liberates: from stereotypes, from inherited fear, from limiting narratives.
6) Freedom to speak and listen
We protect truth-telling and deep listening as foundations of trust.
We foster dialogue that is brave, not violent; honest, not humiliating. We choose connection over conquest.
7) Freedom to love responsibly
Love is not only romance; it is relationship—how we treat ourselves, our families, our colleagues, strangers, and future generations.
We commit to love that doesn’t control, shame, or exploit.
8) Freedom to live in harmony with nature
We cannot be free while living against the living world.
We embrace regenerative practices that restore ecosystems and reconnect humanity with the Earth as a partner, not a resource.
9) Freedom to create and contribute
Creativity is not a luxury; it is a life force.
We champion art, innovation, and service as expressions of collective rebirth—especially among youth and communities historically excluded.
10) Freedom to co-create the future
The future is not something that “happens to us.”
It is something we shape—through policy, culture, technology, education, and the everyday choices that define what we normalize.
A message to our stakeholders: the future is asking for your courage
To our partners, allies, institutions, cities, educators, businesses, investors, policymakers, community leaders, and every human being who has ever wondered if a better world is possible:
This is your moment to choose what you will stand for.
Not with perfection—but with presence.
Not with grand speeches alone—but with concrete commitments.
If you lead a city: build wellbeing into the fabric of governance.
If you lead a company: design work that honors human dignity and mental health.
If you teach: cultivate classrooms where children learn how to regulate emotions, resolve conflict, and build purpose.
If you serve in health: treat the whole person, not only the symptom.
If you shape media: tell stories that restore our faith in humanity.
If you are a parent, neighbor, friend: become a sanctuary for truth and tenderness.
Rebirth is not someone else’s job.
Freedom is a collective practice.
The World Happiness Fest 2026: a global celebration of possibility
The World Happiness Fest is more than an event. It is a movement of people and organizations choosing to make happiness practical, scalable, and regenerative.
This year, we will gather globally to practice rebirth:
- by building spaces of healing and belonging,
- by elevating solutions that work,
- by amplifying voices that have been silenced,
- by turning inspiration into implementation,
- by measuring what truly matters: wellbeing, connection, meaning, and planetary health.
And we will do it with a simple, radical belief:
Happiness is not the reward at the end of the road.
Happiness is the road.
A pledge for 2026
I offer this pledge to you—and I invite you to make it your own:
In 2026, we will choose freedom over fear.
We will choose rebirth over resignation.
We will choose presence over perfection.
We will choose community over isolation.
We will choose regeneration over extraction.
We will choose love over numbness.
We will choose possibility—again and again—until it becomes reality.
And I return to the question that can guide us every day:
What makes you feel free?
Hold your answer like a torch.
Share it with your team, your family, your community.
Build your year around it.
Design your policies around it.
Create your culture around it.
Because when people become free inside, they stop accepting cages outside.
And when societies protect freedom with compassion, they become worthy of the next generation.
This is the year of rebirth and freedom.
This is the year of possibilities.
This is our moment—together.
With gratitude and determination,
